Dogs are only allowed at Kakaho Campsite with a Department of Conservation permit, sorted before you arrive. We have drafted the email for you: it reaches the Te Kūiti DOC office, which looks after Pureora Forest Park. Add your details and send it.

- Apply before you travel. A permit can take up to five days, and it is not issued at the campsite.
- Add your dog's details. Include the microchip and council registration numbers and your trip dates. The draft has a line for each.
- Wait for DOC to confirm. They reply with the permit or tell you what else they need, such as proof of aversion training.

Beside Kakaho Stream and dense podocarp forest. Swim in the stream or walk the Rimu Track through thick forest before climbing to a stunning viewpoint.

Getting there
Address: 1754303/9 State Highway 4, Taumarunui 3920 Barryville/Maraeroa Roads, off SH 30, 20 km east of Bennydale adjacent to Pureora Field Base. From the field base follow Link Rd from park office or Kakaho Road from SH 32. Access: Gravel.
