Privacy

What we hold

Browsing the site needs no account. We keep aggregate daily tallies of a few of our own buttons so we know what helps, with no advertising trackers, no cookies for it, and nothing tied to you. We record the IP address a request came from briefly, in a rate-limit table, so signup, login and password resets cannot be abused.

If you join the pack, we store the email address you sign up with, your dogs and their names, breeds and portraits, the walks and check-ins you log, photos you upload and their captions, reviews and reports you send, messages you send other members, who you follow, and, if you turn on notifications, a token identifying the browser we send them to. If you take out a membership we hold your Stripe customer reference; we never see your card. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.

Photos and location

When you upload a photo, we read the GPS position and the date the camera wrote into it, if they are still there, and use them to check the photo really was taken at that walk. Those coordinates are stored with the photo, and for an approved photo they are shown as a pin on that walk's public map, credited to your first name and your dog. iPhones usually strip location from web uploads, so most photos carry none. Ask us and we will remove a photo or its position.

What is public

Your member page is public. It shows your first name, your dogs and their portraits, your bio, your verified walks and when you did them, your approved photos, and the contributions of yours we accepted. It never shows your email, your exact location, or anything you did not put on show. Ask us and we will take your page off the boards.

Where it lives

Account data lives in our own database on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Dog photos you upload for a portrait are kept so you can re-roll the drawing, and you can replace them at any time. We do not sell or rent personal information. The services listed under Third parties below are the only ones any of it reaches, and each one is there to make a part of the site work.

Your choices

You can use every page of the site without an account. To change or remove your account data, send us a note through the report form with your account email in the message and we will sort it.

Third parties

Map tiles and the site itself are served from our own Cloudflare zone, which also hosts our database and our photo storage. Dog portraits are generated by OpenAI at your request, and the same service runs an automatic safety check over every photo before a person reviews it; the photo you submit is sent to that service and is subject to its terms. Membership payments go through Stripe, which receives your email address, and we never receive your card. Email is delivered by Loops and Resend: password resets always, and pack updates only if you asked for them, in which case Loops also receives your first name, your dogs' names, your region and your walk count. If you turn on notifications, your browser's push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) carries them. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider tells us who you are.

We do not sell or rent personal information.
