This walk was suggested by the community and checked against the authority quoted above before it was published. The route line comes from official track data. Auckland Council’s own wording: “"Reserve areas: On-leash, All times", from Auckland Council's park page for Bremner Esplanade Reserve. The agility gear at Auranga Dog Park sits inside that reserve, so the on-leash rule covers it too. Neither Auranga nor Bremner appears in the Policy on Dogs 2025 and Bremner Esplanade Reserve is not in the Franklin Local Board off-leash list at section 2.4.1. The council's own page says to follow the rules on its website even where a sign on the ground says something different”. Evidence: the rule-setter’s own published wording. How we check dog rules.

About Auranga Dog Park to the Bremner Esplanade jetty

In Auckland, Auranga Dog Park to the Bremner Esplanade jetty runs 0.4 km as a point-to-point.

Auranga Dog Park is a small grassed enclosure of about two thirds of a hectare on the Bremner Road side of the Auranga subdivision at Drury, with a set of basic agility gear on it. From there a concrete path drops south east through Bremner Esplanade Reserve to a short wooden boardwalk and a jetty over the tidal arm below, about 430 m each way. The wider esplanade path network runs a further 2 km west from the dog park, so there is more walking here than the jetty leg suggests. The rule is the part worth knowing before you drive out. Despite the name, Auckland Council does not list Auranga Dog Park as an off-leash area. The agility equipment sits inside Bremner Esplanade Reserve, and the council's page for that reserve gives one rule for the whole place: reserve areas, on-leash, all times. Neither Auranga nor Bremner appears anywhere in the Policy on Dogs 2025, and neither is in the Franklin Local Board off-leash list. The council's own note on that page says to follow the rules on its website even where a sign on the ground says something different. If there is a sign at the enclosure saying otherwise, a photo of it is the thing that would let us put the question to the council. We could not confirm any fence around the enclosure. Nothing is mapped as a fence there and we found no council or developer page saying it is fenced, so plan for an open reserve beside tidal water. If you want a confirmed off-leash run in this part of Papakura, Waipapatai / Pahurehure Esplanade Reserve and Jack Farrell Park are both on our map with the council's off-leash wording behind them. Corrina and Ramona sent this one in.

Graded easy, it stays flat overall, and takes about 5 min to walk.

Dogs are allowed here, on the lead. This walk is on the map because Corrina & Ramona suggested it, and we checked it against the source above.
