Beachlands to Maraetai Path
Auckland · Out & Back
This walk comes from licensed public walk data and is being progressively confirmed against the authorities. Signs on the day always win. Auckland Council’s own wording: “Mixed along the route (Auckland Council Policy on Dogs 2025). The local reserves along the coast, including Shelly Bay, Sunkist Bay, Omana Esplanade, Te Puru and Maraetai Park, are off-leash under control. Inside Omana Regional Park the through-route is on-leash only, dogs are prohibited beyond it, and the park closes to dogs entirely during lambing. On the beaches from 1 December to 1 March dogs are prohibited 10am to 5pm”. Evidence: the rule-setter’s own published wording. How we check dog rules.
