About Kaimanawa Forest Loop Walk
Kaimanawa Forest Loop Walk is a loop of 0.9 km, near Kaimanawa Forest Park in Waikato.
A short, gently sloping loop through native bush that starts and finishes at Urchin Campsite, 3 km along Kaimanawa Road off SH1 about 15 km south of Tūrangi. DOC put it at 20 minutes, and for its size there is a real mix of forest types, a good taste of the Kaimanawa beech. The track is in good condition and easy to follow. This is Kaimanawa Forest Park, so a dog needs a DOC permit from the Tūrangi office before you go; without one, leave the dog at home.
Graded easy, it climbs about 9 m overall, and takes about 12 min to walk.
