This walk comes from licensed public walk data and is being progressively confirmed against the authorities. Signs on the day always win. The rule-setter’s own wording: “Auckland Council names this walk in the on-leash zone on its own park page for Kakamatua: dogs are "On-leash" at "All times", and "This includes on the track and in bush areas for Kakamatua Beach Walk, Orpheus Graves Walk and Kakamatua Inlet Track." Everywhere else at Kakamatua is "Off-leash" at "All times", and "This includes beach and foreshore." On the ground that means leash on from the Huia Road car park for the first 900 m of formed track and bush, and off leash once you are down on the sand and foreshore of the inlet. One thing worth knowing here, because it is the council’s own instruction: "Always follow the rules shown on our website for where you can walk your dog, even if the information on park signs does not match."”. Evidence: a hand-checked correction against the authority. How we check dog rules.
