Moumoukai Farm Loop Track
Auckland · Loop
The dog rule shown here is resolved against the council zone this walk sits in. Route details come from licensed public walk data. Auckland Council’s own wording: “Hūnua Ranges Regional Park, dog walking: "On-leash, All times - under control", applies to all areas not prohibited including the shared tracks and service roads "Waterline, Workman, Repeater, Keeney, Graham White, Manning, Otau Mountain, Moumoukai Hill and McKenzie roads" and "ARA Drive (also known as Mangatangi Hill Road)"; "Prohibited, All times" on "mountain bike only tracks" including Pipeline, and in "farm paddocks during lambing season (1 July to 30 November)"”. Evidence: a hand-checked correction against the authority. How we check dog rules.
Good to know
Dogs are allowed here. Keep them on the lead, watch for ground-nesting birds and stock, and read the signs at the gate.
About Moumoukai Farm Loop Track
Moumoukai Farm Loop Track covers 15.0 km, in Auckland, walked as a loop.
This is a Hūnua Ranges Regional Park loop and Auckland Council's rule for the park is on leash at all times, under control, on the service roads the loop follows: Manning Road, Graham White Road, Moumoukai Hill Road and ARA Drive are all on the council's on-leash list. Two things to plan around. The loop as drawn uses a short stretch of the Pipeline mountain bike track near Graham White Road, and the council prohibits dogs on the bike-only tracks at all times, so stay on the road there rather than the bike line. Farm paddocks in the park are closed to dogs during lambing, 1 July to 30 November, so between those dates keep to the formed roads and gravel paths. The campgrounds are closed to dogs year round.
Graded moderate, it climbs about 156 m overall, pitching up to 11 % at its steepest, and takes about 4.5–5 hr to walk.
Walkers come for native forest, river frontage, and big views. Dogs are allowed here, on the lead. Walkers rate it 4.4 / 5 across 18 reviews.
