DOC's dog access field for this walk reads "Dogs with a DOC permit for recreational hunting or management purposes only", and that permit covers hunting or management work, not a general dog walk. DOC's own description of the reserve on the same page says dogs are allowed on a lead, so ring the Kaitaia office before you count on bringing yours.

This short track follows 1.9 km as a loop, near Taipa in Northland.
Worth knowing before you drive out: DOC gives two different dog rules for this reserve on the same page. The dog access field says permit only, for recreational hunting or management, while the description lower down says twice that dogs are allowed provided they are on a lead at all times, and points at the Northland reserve bylaws. We show the stricter one, because the dog access field is what sets access everywhere else on this site. Ring DOC's Kaitaia office before you go if you are counting on the on-lead reading, and tell us what they say and we will put it up.
