Wainoni Park and the Joe Clark Walkway
Greenhithe · Auckland
This walk was suggested by the community and checked against the authority quoted above before it was published. The route line comes from official track data. Auckland Council’s own wording: “Wainoni Park North, Wainoni Park South and Wainoni Downs are areas where dogs may be exercised under control off a leash at all times (Auckland Council Policy on Dogs 2025, clause 2.17.2). Prohibited on any playground or sports surface, on leash nearby while they are in use, and on leash on roads and car parks”. Evidence: the rule-setter’s own published wording. How we check dog rules.

About Wainoni Park and the Joe Clark Walkway
Wainoni Park and the Joe Clark Walkway is a short walk of 0.5 km, near Greenhithe in Auckland.
Greenhithe's big backyard: sports fields, horse paddocks and pockets of bush, and the whole park is off-leash under control. The line mapped here is the Joe Clark Walkway, the formed spine of the park: concrete path giving way to a boardwalk through the trees, just under half a kilometre each way. Around it run several kilometres of mown paths and informal tracks looping the fields and paddocks, so most locals turn it into a longer wander. Keep the lead on across the car parks, clear of the playground, and away from the sports surfaces while games are on.
It sits at the easy end and gains roughly 8 m, and takes about 6 min to walk.
Dogs are welcome here. This walk is on the map because Inge & Pip suggested it, and we checked it against the source above.
