About Ahuriri Valley Track
Ahuriri Valley Track is a big walk of 18.3 km, near Twizel in Canterbury.
A backcountry tramping track following the Ahuriri River up-valley through Ahuriri Conservation Park, with several huts (including Shamrock Hut) providing trip options; graded advanced (Grade 3), roughly 14.5 km one way. The East Ahuriri branch of the valley carries the Te Araroa route towards the Timaru River.
Expect expert going, with around 705 m of climb, pitching up to 22 % at its steepest, and takes about 4h 49m to walk.
Dogs are welcome here.
