About Edwards Lookout

Edwards Lookout is a track of 0.6 km, near Thames in Waikato.

A 30-minute (700 m) walk from Whangaiterenga Campsite in the Kauaeranga Valley, Coromandel Forest Park. Cross the concrete ford and follow a well-formed metalled track through manuka-towai forest to a rock outcrop and saddle with extensive views over the valley (a popular abseiling spot).

Expect easy, near-level going, and takes about 7m to walk.

Dogs are welcome here on the lead. DOC’s own wording: “Dogs on a leash are permitted on most walking tracks but not the Kauaeranga Kauri Trail, the Pinnacles Track or at Pinnacles Hut.”.
