About Murrays Walk

This short track follows 0.6 km as a track, near Thames in Waikato.

A 15-minute (500 m) raised boardwalk in the Kauaeranga Valley, Coromandel Forest Park, winding through native plantings and wetland. You pass edge species like manuka and fivefinger into forest of rimu, rata, kahikatea and nikau, with at least three species of tree fern.

It sits at the easy end and gains roughly 9 m, pitching up to 16 % at its steepest, and takes about 7m to walk.

Dogs are welcome here on the lead. DOC’s own wording: “Dogs on a leash are permitted on most walking tracks but not the Kauaeranga Kauri Trail, the Pinnacles Track or at Pinnacles Hut.”.
