About Reid's Pit Walking Tracks

Reid's Pit Walking Tracks covers 0.8 km, near Rolleston in Canterbury.

A rehabilitated council gravel pit turned 4 hectare reserve on the corner of Selwyn and Weedons Roads, a few minutes from Rolleston. The walk starts and finishes at the small carpark off Selwyn Road: a short gravel spur leads to a tight dirt loop around the northern tip, then the main gravel track runs along the top of the old pit and down the western side to the southern tip, returning up the eastern side to close the loop at just under a kilometre. A third gravel strand cuts through the middle if you want to vary it. Four bike-only tracks weave the same ground, so keep the dog on the walking tracks and expect riders crossing.

It sits at the easy end and barely climbs, and takes about 10 min to walk.

Dogs are allowed here, on the lead. This walk is on the map because Inge & Pip suggested it, and we checked it against the source above.
