Dog-friendly cafes and pubs in Lyttelton

5 cafes, bars and pubs around Lyttelton with a dog policy we can point at a source for. 2 of them let dogs inside; the other 3 keep it to the outdoor area.

Two different things get called dog-friendly, and we keep them apart.
  • Dogs inside means the operator has said dogs are welcome in the building, and we hold the wording that says it.
  • Outdoor areas means the courtyard, the garden bar or the footpath tables, and not indoors.
Every venue below carries the source we read it in. Anything we could not source is left off, so a place missing from this page is one nobody has put in writing, not one that said no.

Ōtoromiro Hotel

Dogs welcome inside

Restaurant

“The hotel puts a Dog's Menu on its own food menu, available all day, from an Ōto dog biccie at $1.5 to a Dog's Dinner of chopped rib-eye on kibble at $20. It told a pubs guide it has long been a dog friendly venue with vast outdoor spaces. Neither says inside in so many words, so the inside part is a pack member's own report: Megan sat in with Albie in September 2026 and ordered off that menu.”

Policies change, and the operator has the last word. Owners change, councils change, a wet Tuesday changes what fits in the courtyard. Ring ahead if the answer matters, take the operator’s word over ours, and keep the dog settled and off the seats either way. Spot something out of date? Tell us and we will re-read the source.
