GLT Kawakawa Bay Tk
Waikato
Route and dog-access details for this walk come from the Department of Conservation, licensed CC BY 4.0. DOC’s own wording: “Dogs are allowed on this track. The Kinloch trailhead sits on Taupō District Council's Kinloch Esplanade Reserve, and the first and last stretch of the walk crosses it. Dogs are prohibited there 'from 1 December to 31 March inclusive from the hours of 9am to 7pm inclusive' (Control of Dogs Bylaw 2021, First Schedule (f), 'The esplanade reserves at Hatepe and Kinloch'), a ban the council lists as applying 'even when on leash', so over summer start before 9am or after 7pm. Outside that window clause 7 still applies on the reserve: 'Every owner of a dog shall keep that dog under control on a leash in public places at all times.' Kinloch Marina Terrace Reserve, nearby, is separately listed as a place where 'dogs may be exercised off-leash ... provided they are kept under the continued control of the person responsible'”. Evidence: the council’s own mapped rule zone. How we check dog rules.
