About Great Lake Trail: Headland Loop (W2K)
Great Lake Trail: Headland Loop (W2K) is a long walk of 10.0 km, near Taupō in Waikato.
The Headland Loop is a 9.5 km add-on loop off the Whakaipo Bay to Kinloch (W2K) section of the Great Lake Trail at Lake Taupō, branching from the halfway point of the W2K track. It climbs through native forest to lookouts over the lake and is best suited to cyclists or fitter walkers; about 3 hours' walk.
It sits at the hard end and gains roughly 199 m, pitching up to 22 % at its steepest, and takes about 2h 19m to walk.
