About Tauherenikau Suspension Bridge Track
Tauherenikau Suspension Bridge Track covers 2.6 km, near Tauwharenīkau in Wellington, walked as an out-and-back.
On lead, on the trust’s own word. The Tauwharenikau Trail is the Greytown Trails Trust’s newer leg, running from Clifford Park in Featherston to Woodside over their suspension bridge, where it joins the Rail Trail into Greytown. The same on-lead rule the trust publishes for the Rail Trail covers it. The bridge deck is narrow and busy with bikes, so keep the lead short across it.
Expect easy going, with around 7 m of climb, pitching up to 4 % at its steepest, and takes about 0.5–1 hr to walk.
